Liverpool are working diligently behind the scenes to fine-tune their squad ahead of deadline day.
After officially agreeing a deal for Giorgi Mamardashvili, Liverpool are also set to sign Federico Chiesa imminently with the Italian currently doing his medical at the club.
In terms of outgoings, Stefan Bajcetic has surprisingly found himself in the middle of a transfer tussle between Barcelona and RB Salzburg.
After agreeing terms to reunite with former Reds coach Pep Lijnders in Austria, Bajcetic received an unexpected loan offer from Barcelona yesterday evening.
With just over a day left for the transfer window to slam shut, it now appears as if the young Spaniard has rejected advances from the Catalan giants in favour of a loan move to Salzburg.
Liverpool to loan out Stefan Bajcetic to RB Salzburg

According to Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona’s FFP issues meant they had no chance of pursuing a deal, with the 19-year-old now set to travel to Salzburg to complete his medical and other formalities of the deal.
Bajcetic was linked with a move to Real Sociedad earlier this summer as the Reds tried to use him in a deal to sign Martin Zubimendi.
However, the transfer didn’t materialise as Zubimendi opted to remain at his boyhood club.
Salzburg the right move for Bajcetic
A move to Austria to reunite with Lijnders is the best move for Bajcetic as it would allow him to get back to his best after an unfortunate spell with injuries over the past 18 months.
The lure of Barcelona would have been hard to turn down, but the Catalan giants are going through a transition of their own and a move to a club of their stature wouldn’t have been in his best interest at this stage of his career.
A more conducive environment at Salzburg would allow him to flourish under a young manager he knows well, while he’d also share the dressing room with former teammate Bobby Clark who made a similar move earlier this summer.
Regular game time is the name of the game for Bajcetic and the Austrian giants would be able to provide him with just that this season.
