Liverpool are set to wave goodbye to another exciting young prospect with a loan agreement close to being completed.

The Reds have already decided to send Calvin Ramsay and Rhys Williams on loan to gather more experience over the 2024-25 season.

Owen Beck is also set to join Blackburn Rovers on loan despite receiving interest from Scottish champions Celtic.

Offloading young talents has been a recurring theme in Liverpool‘s transfer window with Fabio Carvalho and Sepp van de Berg both joining Brentford in permanent deals.

Now, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Liverpool are on the brink of completing another loan move.

Liverpool ace close to leaving on loan

The Reds pushed hard for a midfield signing this summer but Martin Zubimendi rejected a move to Liverpool.

Romano revealed that Liverpool considered using Stefan Bajcetic as part of a swap deal for Zubimendi.

But the “brilliant” 19-year-old midfielder is now set to reunite with former Liverpool assistant Pep Ljinders.

Romano explained on X, formerly known as Twitter, that Stefan Bajcetic‘s loan move to RB Salzburg is in the “final stages.”

“RB Salzburg in advanced talks to sign Stefan Bajcetic on loan from Liverpool. Negotiations at final stages with details to be clarified but already underway, as Pep Lijnders wants Stefan. Clubs in Spain also wanted him but RB Salzburg are now close,” Romano posted.

A future Liverpool star

While Liverpool were willing to part ways with Carvalho and Van den Berg on a permanent basis, there was zero chance the Reds were going to let Bajcetic leave.

The 19-year-old is rated highly at Anfield and has made some impressive cameos in the first-team.

He does not yet have the experience to work his way into Arne Slot’s side but a successful loan spell in Germany could fast-track his route into the first-team plans.
