Fabrizio Romano claims Romero is flying in to complete his Tottenham medical

Cristian Romero had the first part of his medical to join Tottenham yesterday.

What’s the story?

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Argentine will fly over to London today in order to complete the second part. As previously reported, the defender will sign a five-year deal until 2026.

A move comes amidst a reshuffle in defence for Nuno Espirito Santo. Toby Alderweireld has departed for Al-Duhail in Qatar.

Meanwhile, there’s still question marks over the likes of Davinson Sanchez, Serge Aurier and Japhet Tanganga. The Colombian is a target for Sevilla, the Frenchman is keen to leave and the youngster is weighing up a move to Galatasaray.

Romero finally completing Tottenham move amid medical claims

It’s been a while in the making.

However, it seems Romero is finally about to complete his move to Tottenham amid claims he’s completed half his medical.

The transfer has been held up for a number of weeks after both clubs reached sticking point in negotiations.

Atalanta have been adamant they want £47m for the sale of the ace. However, it emerged a week ago Spurs were reluctant to pay the figure.

In the end, the north Londoners have relented after agreeing on a fee of €50m + €5m in add-ons (£47m).

But, why did it take so long? It was fairly obvious to almost everyone Atalanta would always stick to their guns.

The Lilywhites may have wasted precious time in failing to meet the Serie A outfit’s demands.
