The agent of Moises Caicedo has now confirmed that Arsenal tried to sign his client just before he moved to Chelsea in the summer.
Mikel Arteta‘s side were very active in the last transfer window. They spent big money and brought in Kai Havertz, Jurrien Timber, Declan Rice and David Raya. However, if agent Ali Barat is to be believed, the Gunners showed interest in Caicedo too.

Agent says Arsenal tried to sign Moises Caicedo in the summer
The Moises Caicedo transfer saga was a crazy one in the summer, wasn’t it?
It became very clear that the Ecuador international would leave Brighton after the Seagulls blocked his move to Arsenal in January this year.
Chelsea always seemed the favourites, but Liverpool went in with a mammoth offer for Caicedo, and Brighton even accepted their bid. All signs pointed towards a move to Anfield, but the midfielder rejected the transfer.
Caicedo only wanted Chelsea, and Mauricio Pochettino’s side sealed the deal in the end for a British record fee of £115 million (Sky Sports).
The Ecuadorian’s agent, Ali Barat, has now revealed that along with Liverpool, Arsenal tried their luck too to sign Caicedo before he completed his move to Chelsea.
Speaking about Caicedo’s transfer, he told TuttoMercatoWeb: “It was a fantastic moment, the culmination of three and a half years work.
“It was an exciting moment and also a very tense one, at the last minute, as you know, Arsenal and Liverpool also came into the game. It was definitely a great experience.”

Arsenal signed the better midfielder in Declan Rice
Moises Caicedo is a terrific midfielder, there’s absolutely no doubt about that. However, he’s nowhere near as good as Declan Rice.
The Englishman has arguably been the signing of the summer. He hasn’t put a foot wrong in Arsenal’s colours so far, and he is one of the biggest reasons why the Gunners are on top of the league table.
Arsenal’s interest in Caicedo is not too hard to believe as they tried to sign him back in January this year. But, their priority in the summer was clearly Rice, and they got their man.
Arsenal take on Luton Town in the Premier League tonight. It will be interesting to see if Mikel Arteta will give Rice a breather.
