Alan Shearer has now been complimenting one Tottenham Hotspur forward after the seismic win against Aston Villa on Sunday.
Ange Postecoglou and his Spurs team sent out a real statement in their pursuit of fourth, demonstrating just how far they’ve come.

And although it won’t necessarily be on their mind, Tottenham also proved just big of a say they could have in the title race this season, given they still face all three teams involved.
But with important aspirations of their own, Postecoglou will have his squad focused on the task at hand, just as they showed on the weekend.
Losing Micky van de Ven to another injury will definitely be a blow, although the issue is not supposed to be as bad as his last.
Moreover, it also has to be mentioned that Tottenham now have much stronger back up with Radu Dragusin around.
That being said, it was a different Spurs player than Alan Shearer was praising in his ‘Team of the Week’.
Shearer included Tottenham’s Brennan Johnson in his team following his superb goal and performance against Villa on the weekend.
Alan Shearer praises Tottenham’s Brennan Johnson after excellent Villa performance
Explaining his choice, Shearer said that Johnson was beginning to become the go-to-man for goals and assists at the club right now.
He said: “He’s producing regular goals and assists now for Spurs. It was an excellent finish to take the match out of Aston Villa’s hands.”

And although he was exceptional at times, there’s really no guarantee that Johnson will keep his spot in the XI when Spurs face Fulham on Saturday.
Such is the strong competition at Tottenham right now, Timo Werner could return to the fold having scored a goal himself off of the bench.
Ange Postecoglou will of course welcome this kind of contest, something he may look to continue if he signs another new forward this summer.
But going back to Shearer’s praise, Johnson really did demonstrate his rich potential against Villa on Sunday.
And it’s now becoming clear why so many people are excited about his talent at Tottenham.
