Ex-Tottenham player backs Harry Kane to star for England at Euro 2020
Michael Dawson has told TalkSPORT that Tottenham striker Harry Kane will be fully focused on Euro 2020 with England.
Speculation has been rife surrounding the Three Lions talisman. Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea have all been linked.
Kane will be the man tasked with spearheading England at this summer’s tournament. He will be hoping to add to the 34 goals he already has for his country.
The 27-year-old is on the back of another fine season. Kane has scored 33 goals and claimed 17 assists in all competition for Tottenham.
He will be desperate to win some silverware and his Spurs future looks uncertain. Dawson doesn’t think that will have an impact on his summer form though.
The ex-defender told TalkSPORT: “We’ve got so much talent, we are blessed with it. Harry Kane comes short, he can create, he can run in behind, he scores all types of goals.
“What’s been going on off the pitch, I don’t think it’ll affect him. He’s an absolute model pro. He works so hard day in, day out.
“I don’t believe it’ll affect him because he’s had that mentality from such a young age that he’s so focused.”
Dawson collected four England caps during his international career. He also fits the billing of a player who has been incredibly professional during his playing days.
Kane and Tottenham: The saga will continue – but after the European Championship
Dawson is right when he suggests Kane will be fully focused on the Euro 2020 tournament.
There is absolutely no saying that Kane relishes his role as the England captain and will want to deliver the trophy.
The Three Lines haven’t claimed silverware since the World Cup triumph of 1966 and Gareth Southgate will want to change that.
Kane will be tasked with England’s goalscoring mantle once again and he knows he must deliver.
If he holds a desire of moving clubs this summer, he will want to place himself in the shop window.
That could bode well for Tottenham who will want to increase his valuation – whilst it could be music to the ears of England.
