Djed Spence and Cristian Romero top ranking for every Fabio Paratici signing at Tottenham so far

Fabio Paratici made quite an impact at Tottenham, despite spending just under two years working at the club in his first spell.

The Italian director joined in 2021 as the director of football, where he was responsible for transfer negotiations on behalf of the club.

In that time, he signed 16 players with varying success before he resigned in 2023.

With Paratici now returning to Tottenham, there is a new look to how the hierarchy will be sorted and what deals will be done.

So, with that said, here’s a look at all of Fabio Paratici’s deals so far from his time at Tottenham in ranked order.

16 – Bryan Gil

Bryan Gil was viewed as a promising young talent when Tottenham signed him from Sevilla in 2021.

The move was part of a swap deal that saw Erik Lamela move the other way, while Spurs paid another £21 million on top.

As much promise as the Spanish forward had, it unfortunately didn’t translate onto the pitch for the Lilywhites.

43 appearances for the club led to no goals and just two assists, as several loans followed.

Gil confirmed a move to Girona in 2025, bringing an end to his stay in North London.

15 – Pierluigi Gollini

Tottenham looked to reinforce their goalkeeper ranks with Pierluigi Gollini joining on loan from Atalanta in 2021.

The Italian shot-stopper failed to make much of an impression, though, as he made just ten appearances before returning to his parent club.

14 – Arnaut Danjuma

Tottenham caused quite the stir in 2023 when they landed Arnaut Danjuma on loan, hijacking Everton’s deal for the star.

It was a move made in January with a plan to reinforce the forward ranks with quality, after a few impressive seasons with Villarreal.

Danjuma played for just 199 minutes at Spurs, scoring two goals in 12 appearances across all competitions.

He returned to Villarreal before making an eventual move to Everton the following season.

13 – Clement Lenglet

Another player from the loan department, Clement Lenglet, was signed in 2022 to bring extra depth to the backline.

The Frenchman made 35 appearances for Spurs that season, featuring in the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup.

While most of his displays were fine, he never made a permanent switch as the team limped along.

12 – Emerson Royal

Barcelona star Emerson Royal was a target for Tottenham in 2021, as the club went all out to land the full-back.

The Brazilian did make an impact at the club with just over 100 appearances, but most of those came with plenty of frustrations from the fans.

The defender was often less controlled both in and out of possession, and his eventual move to AC Milan in 2024 ended three years at the club.

11 – Fraser Forster

Every squad needs a backup goalkeeper, and Fraser Forster fit the bill pretty well for the time he spent at Tottenham.

The experienced shot-stopper was signed in 2022 as a free agent from Southampton, bringing plenty of quality along with him.

When called upon, Forster could come up with some fine displays, though there is the odd mistake in there, too.

In all, it’s a move that went under the radar but one that still held some importance.

10 – Ivan Perisic

They say class is permanent, and that was certainly proven when Ivan Perisic made the move to Tottenham.

The winger reunited with Antonio Conte following their spell at Inter Milan, hopeful that he could bring some extra pedigree to the frontline.

Perisic made 50 appearances for Spurs, proving he still had some quality with some of the deliveries he could put into the box.

An injury eventually ended his time at the club, while he now plays his football for PSV Eindhoven at 36.

9 – Yves Bissouma

Brighton’s recruitment had impressed many, so it seemed like a bargain when Tottenham landed Yves Bissouma for just £25 million from them.

So far, though, the 29-year-old has really struggled to make one of the midfield positions his own.

In 100 appearances for Tottenham, there have been some bright sparks, but without the consistency required to play regularly.

There have been issues with managers over that time, too, with Thomas Frank leaving him out for disciplinary reasons this season.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for Bissouma at the club.

8 – Rodrigo Bentancur

Rodrigo Bentancur was part of a double deal with Juventus that saw Dejan Kulusevski also join Tottenham.

At times, the Uruguayan international has driven Spurs forward, and he was a crucial part of the team at one point.

Injuries have impacted him, however, as he has struggled to keep up with some of the earlier form he showed.

7 – Richarlison

Richarlison’s story at Tottenham may be better defined by his transfer fee, rather than what he did on the pitch.

The Brazilian cost £60 million from Everton, and struggled to hit the ground running as many would’ve hoped.

Injuries have plagued him, but there have been times when Richarlison has been back to his very best.

The fans have often wanted him to do well, given how hard he works and his infectious personality.

Overall, though, a return of just over 20 goals in over 100 appearances won’t leave many reflecting positively on the move.

6 – Destiny Udogie

Some of Paratici’s best finds were the bargain deals he completed for stars within the Tottenham team.

Destiny Udogie can be firmly put in that category, costing just £15 million from Udinese.

Upon returning from his loan back to Italy, the full-back hit the ground running with some incredible displays.

The early days of Udogie under Ange Postecoglou had fans delighted, though injuries have since struck and his place is now up for grabs.

5 – Djed Spence

One of the players competing for that left-back spot is Djed Spence.

Tottenham spent £12.5 million to land the defender from Middlesbrough, and it hasn’t been an easy journey since then.

Several difficult loan spells and snubs from managers have seen him left out in the cold, but he has bounced back.

Spence is now a regular for Spurs and England, which has made the deal seem like a bargain so far.

4 – Dejan Kulusevski

On his day, Dejan Kulusevski can be one of the best players in the Premier League.

Signed from Juventus for just £25.6 million, the Swedish international has been a key player for Tottenham.

Paratici worked his usual magic to get an 18-month loan for the forward to begin with, before making it permanent.

Kulusevski started out on the right flank, but has slowly transformed into a number ten, with over 140 appearances now made for the club.

At 25, there is still some hope that he can grow further, but injuries have been a real problem for him lately.

3 – Pape Matar Sarr

Another bargain for Tottenham came in 2021 when they signed Pape Matar Sarr in a deal worth £14.6 million from Metz.

Upon his return from a loan at his old club, the 23-year-old has been a consistent part of the team, making over 100 appearances.

Sarr has already provided plenty of value, and with many years left to come, there could be even more ahead of him.

2 – Pedro Porro

One of the first names on the teamsheet each week, when he is available, is Pedro Porro.

While he was signed as a wing-back for Conte’s system, he has eventually adjusted to become a top right-back.

A shaky start has been replaced by some assured performances, with quality especially clear in the final third.

While it wasn’t a cheap deal at £39 million, he continues to prove his value.

1 – Cristian Romero

Aside from Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min, there may be no player more important to Tottenham in their more recent history than Cristian Romero.

The defender joined from Atalanta on an initial loan, which was made permanent in 2022.

Romero has been a leader in almost every aspect, even with the occasional question mark over his temperament.

He has since been named as the club captain, with his ability to drive standards ensuring the Spurs can keep improving.
