‘Every day of the week’… Pundit says £60m player Arsenal could sign is actually better than Declan Rice

Declan Rice has been one of the stars of the Premier League this season.

The Arsenal midfielder has taken to life at the Emirates like a duck to water, and he’s played a massive part in the Gunners’ ascension to the top of the league.

However, despite Rice’s good performances this term, there are always going to be some detractors.

Indeed, speaking on TalkSPORT, Jermaine Pennant has been praising Rice, but he did note that he thinks there are some better midfield players in the Premier League – naming Aston Villa’s Douglas Luiz as one such player.

Luiz is better than Rice

Pennant shared his verdict on Luiz and Rice.

“Rice in any team would be a dream to have, but there are better sixes in the Premier League at the moment. I would say Douglas Luiz from Aston Villa, he can do everything Rice can do and better. He assists more, he chips in with goals more than Rice, creativity wise he’s better, flair is better, he can put in a tackle and break up play just like Rice. If someone said to be you can have Luiz for £60m or Rice for £100m, every day of the week, Douglas Luiz,” Pennant said.

Imagine that pairing

Whether or not Luiz is better than Rice is up for debate, but the exciting part of all of this is that these two could soon be playing together for Arsenal.

Indeed, Fabrizio Romano has named Luiz as the Gunners’ top target for the January transfer window, and while that deal won’t be easy to do, it is a possibility that these two end up lining up together in this Arsenal team.

Luiz could well be the perfect partner for Rice in this midfield, and we’re very excited by the prospect of these two playing in the same team together.
