Everton transfer: Some fans react to hearing reports £90k-a-week man could leave
A number of Everton fans have taken to Twitter to comment on the future of James Rodriguez amid reports from Calciomercato suggesting that AC Milan are interested in the Colombian in the summer transfer window.
Rodriguez is potentially gearing up for his second campaign at Goodison Park. It proved to be a mixed first year for the 29-year-old.
When he was on the pitch, he often reminded everyone exactly why he had been with the likes of Real Madrid and Bayern Munich in the previous years.
However, he ended the season with just 23 league appearances under his belt. And with Carlo Ancelotti no longer at Goodison Park, it is probably little surprise that he has been linked with a move away.
‘Sell all day’: Everton fans discuss Rodriguez leaving in the transfer window
It is probably not a huge surprise that the reaction to the notion that Rodriguez could leave has been mixed.
There is a sense however, that letting him go may make a lot of sense – simply because he cannot be relied upon to stay fit.
He is on £90,000-a-week, according to Spotrac. So letting him leave would perhaps hand the club a financial boost.
There is no question that Rodriguez is an outstanding footballer. But he arguably does not show that anywhere often enough.
Here is how some of the Everton fans have reacted to the exit links…
I’d sell all day at 20mill

He’s different class WHEN he plays. But that’s the problem. 🤷♂️

Would prefer to keep him myself . But if I was him I’d be on the phone day and night to get away from this shower .

Sorry if he goes, however he is so injury prone building a team around him would have been a mistake.
Extremely skillful, but seemingly extremely fragile.
