Italian club AC Milan are reportedly considering targeting Everton star James Rodriguez this summer.

According to Calcio Mercato, foreign club AC Milan are evaluating possible attacking targets.

It is understood that Rodriguez is one of the names that has cropped up on their transfer list. Additionally, Hakim Ziyech, Cengiz Under and Rafinha are possible targets.

The report explains that Serie A giants AC Milan are eyeing the 29-year-old Everton playmaker.

Rodriguez is someone that was signed last year by ex-Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti, who decided to leave the club this summer to join Real Madrid.

Ancelotti was extremely complimentary of the attacking midfielder throughout the season, including in September.

“He did four days of training and his performance was outstanding. This is what he can do on the pitch,” Ancelotti said last September,” Ancelotti said, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo.

Everton should do best to keep hold of Rodriguez

Everton need to try dig their heels in over the future of Rodriguez because most Toffees fans are yet to watch him live.

He’s one of the few in the squad that provides an X-factor at Goodison Park, so losing him would be a huge blow.

The Colombian’s injury record was concerning last season. He made just 26 appearances across all competitions. However, he did contribute with six goals and nine assists in that time.

There would be a massive job at Everton if they were left trying to find a direct replacement for Rodriguez during this summer window.

He’s the high-profile player that any new manager at Toffees will want to keep. He has to stay.
