Fabrizio Romano shares Jesper Lindstrom latest amid Everton and Aston Villa links

Everton and Aston Villa have both been linked with Denmark international midfielder Jesper Lindstrom in recent weeks.

Sean Dyche’s Toffees and Unai Emery’s Villans have been busy on the transfer front this summer, with both clubs having made multiple signings.

Everton have brought in two new players in Iliman Ndiaye and Tim Iroegbunam.

Meanwhile, Aston Villa have made six new signings, and Jaden Philogene and Amadou Onana are expected to be next.

Everton appear to be well ahead of Villa in pursuit of Lindstrom, who currently plies his trade for Serie A side Napoli.

Although Villa were preparing a bid for Lindstrom, as per reports, Everton are in active negotiations for the player.

On Thursday afternoon, Fabrizio Romano spoke about the state of play involving Lindstrom’s future.

Everton seem to be ahead of Aston Villa for Jesper Lindstrom

Romano, writing on X, has reported that Everton and Napoli remain in talks for Lindstrom over a loan deal with buy clause.

Negotiations are ongoing but there is “still work to do”, added the transfer insider.

Lindstrom would be a solid signing for either Everton or Villa, as he has shown his quality but is now in need of a fresh start.

The Dane got his big break in 2021 when he joined Eintracht Frankfurt from Brondby, and two years later he was on the move to Napoli.

He has struggled for game time in southern Italy, however, with just 587 minutes under his belt, and is yet to score or assist any goals.

With the right coaching, Lindstrom should return to the levels he reached at Frankfurt, with 28 goal contributions from 80 outings.

The official Bundesliga website has compared the reported Everton and Villa target to Germany international Julian Draxler.

Meanwhile, Jacek Kulig of Football Talent Scout compared Lindstrom to Bruno Fernandes in 2021, and gave him a potential rating of 9 out of 10.
