Everton are currently in the process of strengthening their ranks as the club looks to have a fruitful first season at Bramley-Moore Dock.

Thierno Barry, Carlos Alcaraz and Mark Travers have all joined Everton this summer, and the Toffees are expected to make yet more signings.

In recent weeks, Everton have been linked with Douglas Luiz, who was a sensation at Aston Villa but isn’t having a great time at Juventus.

Italian football journalist Gianni Balzarini has provided details about the negotiations involving Everton and Juve for Luiz.

Everton not far off Juventus valuation for Douglas Luiz

Balzarini took to YouTube to provide information about Juve and their interest in Porto’s Francisco Conceicao along with the Douglas Luiz situation.

The Italian claimed that both Everton and Juve are working to find a solution for Luiz, with a difference of €10million needing to be surmounted.

“So we talked about the exit options,” said Balzarini. “There’s Douglas Luiz, who Everton are seriously keen on.”

Balzarini suggested that Juve want £26million plus add-ons of around £8.7million, while Everton are currently at £26million overall.

“Juve want to earn €40million – €10million plus €30million,” said Balzarini.

“Everton are currently reaching €30m overall. I think an agreement will be reached there too.

“Everyone has their own opinion – for some he’s very strong, for others he’s a dud.

“You see how in football there are a wide variety of opinions, one diametrically opposed to the other, so everyone has their own opinion.

“However, Douglas Luiz is officially on his way out.”

Who could threaten Everton’s ambitions to sign Douglas Luiz

Everton aren’t the only Premier League club interested in Luiz – a player described by John McGinn as “world-class” on The Athletic – this summer.

West Ham United, who are looking to kick on after a poor 2024/25 campaign, have also been linked with a move for Luiz.

In addition, TBR Football understand that Luiz is keen on a move to Tottenham Hotspur, and they are assessing a potential move for him.
