Crystal Palace have signed Michael Olise from Reading, after reports Palace had activated his £8million release clause. Starring for Reading in 2020-21, Olise is widely regarded as a bargain at that figure. Everton fans have reacted on Twitter, having been linked with Olise prior to his move.
Olise, 19, has enjoyed a brilliant 12 months at Reading. Having broken into the side in 2019-20, the London-born playmaker clocked up 46 appearances during the 2020-21 campaign. In that time he produced 19 goal involvements, scoring seven and creating 12. £8million, then, is a bargain.
Plenty of Premier League clubs have been linked of late. Back in 2020, it was claimed that both Liverpool and Everton were tracking the Reading teenager. But there is little surprise that he has opted to sign for Palace. It sees him remain in London, and reunite with new boss Vieira.

What have Everton fans said about Palace getting Olise?
Olise was a part of the Manchester City academy at one point, with Vieira in charge. Now, it sees the duo link up again. Vieira is clearly targeting younger, highly-rated players with Palace also looking at City’s Morgan Rogers. Indeed, Vieira needs to bring in numerous players this summer.
The Eagles have waved goodbye to more than 10 senior players on free transfers – as their contracts expired. That includes the likes of Andros Townsend, Gary Cahill, Mamadou Sakho and more. Olise is a start for Palace, but they need more. Everton fans are jealous on Twitter, after Palace announced the signing of Olise.
