Everton and Wolves blow: £5m-rated star reportedly eyed by PL duo joins title winners, from Wolves
Earlier this month, West Ham and Everton were two clubs reportedly interested in signing Wolves talent Owen Otasowie. Now, both the Hammers and the Toffees have missed out. That is because Belgian champions Club Brugge have announced the signing of £5million-rated Otasowie.
Otasowie, 20, broke into the Wolves side towards the end of last season under now-Tottenham manager Nuno Espirito Santo. He was handed seven appearances, six of which came in the Premier League. Otasowie also got himself into the United States squad, and has a cap to his name.
But the midfielder had entered the final 12 months of his contract this summer. Voetbalkrant said last week that Everton and West Ham were looking at Otasowie, who was rated at £5million. However, Club Brugge have announced the addition of Otasowie on Friday morning.
Everton, West Ham suffer Otasowie blow: Should they regret it?
Otasowie is not a player that would improve Everton and West Ham, straight away. But he is a young player with incredible potential and plenty of promise. At 21, he is still very young, and is getting better. For just £5million, West Ham and Everton would have landed themselves a bargain.
But in order to maximise that potential, Otasowie needs regular game time at the top level. At Everton and West Ham, he would have struggled to achieve that. Club Brugge are also in the Champions League and if he can break into the starting line-up, then it is a move that suits him.
