TBR Football understands that Spain remains the next ambition for Erling Haaland if, and when, he decides to leave Manchester City.
Erling Haaland has committed to Manchester City until 2034, having signed a near-ten-year extension in January.
The Norwegian loves life at City under Pep Guardiola, and has been a huge success since his move from Borussia Dortmund in 2022.
Indeed, 130 goals in just over 150 games have followed and records are falling in his wake.
His contracts since he first joined the club have always included some sort of clause, with his father, Alf Inge Haaland, playing a pivotal role in helping his son map out his future.

His agents, Mino Raiola and his successor, Rafaela Pimenta, have worked hard on putting together deals that mean Haaland can decide what his future looks like.
The 25-year-old has currently shown no desire that his future in the short-term lies away from City, but sources are insistent that he does have an ambition to one day test himself in Spain.
Exclusive: Erling Haaland wants La Liga move after Manchester City transfer
Despite recently signing a new contract at Manchester City, Haaland still has aims of playing in La Liga one day.
It remains to be seen exactly when that could be, as his short-term future seems secure at the Etihad Stadium, but there is a chance he could leave before his current contract expires in 2034.
TBR Football chief reporter Graeme Bailey has exclusively revealed that Haaland wants the move to Spain and explained the decision.
He revealed: “Haaland’s career has been near perfection in terms of choosing his path…from Molde, to Salzburg and then Dortmund instead of Leipzig and then opting for his father’s former club Manchester City – who Haaland always dreamed of playing for,

“I am told that, as it stands, it can’t be ruled out he spends his whole career at the Etihad, given how content he is, but there is a ‘dream’, an ambition to play in Spain one day – for a Real Madrid or Barca, that is logical. I do believe from speaking to people close to his camp that he will play in La Liga at some point.
“Sources do not believe that will come anytime soon – his priority now is firing City to the Premier League and Champions League, and Norway to the World Cup finals next summer, he has a busy 2026 coming up.”
TBR Football understands that both Real Madrid and Barcelona are huge admirers of the Norwegian and would very much be in the market for him, should he become available, but there is little sign of that being anytime soon.
Haaland has started off the season with five goals from the opening four Premier League matches, while he also found the back of the net in Man City’s win over Napoli in their opening Champions League clash.
The Norwegian international has remained an important outlet for Guardiola’s side, an end point for all of their chance creation.
While the distant future may well lie elsewhere, Haaland will be fully focused on making Man City as competitive as possible once again.

Real Madrid and Barcelona situations set up perfectly for Erling Haaland transfer pursuit
Manchester City could face an issue in keeping hold of Haaland if there is a clause for clubs to trigger for his services.
It could take some power away from their side of negotiations, though a lot of it will be down to the player’s decision, too.
If Haaland is open to La Liga in the future, then the situation of both Real Madrid and Barcelona could shift him towards a switch.
For the Blaugrana, there will be one eye on the future of their striker department, with Robert Lewandowski still impressing, but firmly in the peak years of his career.
That may well bring them around to a move in the years to come, while Real Madrid could find themselves in a similar position.
While the “Galacticos” style of transfer approach has shifted more towards superstars as free agents, they may well revert to type by making a move for Haaland.
Kylian Mbappe has impressed, but there is no secret that he enjoys playing off the left.
With question marks over the future of other wide players such as Rodrygo and Vinicius Jr, there could be a shuffle that would see a natural move for Haaland into the central striker role.
That’s all in the future, though, with plenty of things changing in football in a matter of days, let alone years.
For now, Haaland has his future set out at Man City.
