English club join Arsenal in Locatelli race according to Carnevali

A new English club has joined the race for Arsenal target Manuel Locatelli.

What’s the story?

According to Sassuolo’s CEO Giovanni Carnevali, there is a Premier League club in for the Italian.

Speaking in an interview (via Fabrizio Romano), the chief also claimed the 23-year-old wants to join Juventus.

Up until now, Arsenal and the Turin-based outfit have been the only teams to register serious interest.

The Gunners had matched the Serie A side’s asking price, €40m, for the midfielder (£34.1m). However, their attempts were rebuffed by the player who turned down the move.

Emergence of English club doesn’t change anything

The emergence of an English club doesn’t really change anything for Arsenal in the race for Locatelli.

It seems the side have made the ace their number one target and are keen on signing him.

Competition has never frightened Arsenal in the past when it comes to signing top players. They managed to beat the likes of Liverpool to Alexis Sanchez.

And they even beat the Reds and Bayern Munich to the signing of Nicolas Pepe.

If anything, Locatelli’s reluctance to join will be the only thing to hamper a move to the Emirates Stadium.
