England cricket star lauds Aston Villa ace Jack Grealish
England are busy taking on New Zealand in the summer’s first test match. A rested cricket star has been raving about Aston Villa star Jack Grealish.
Chris Woakes isn’t involved against the Kiwis as part of the England selectors choosing a rotation policy.
That has given the fast bowler plenty of time to watch the football and he loved Grealish’s England display against Austria.
The 25-year-old enjoyed a solid showing during the 1-0 win. He played for 71 minutes and showcased his creative spark.
Grealish has been handed the number seven shirt for Euro 2020. Woakes if of the opinion that people are starting to understand the fascination.
The most crucial thing about Grealish is that Gareth Southgate is starting to understand the hype.
Woakes isn’t wrong to suggest that he’s taken some time to convince people – including the England boss.
For a while at the start of the season, the creative spark was ignored for international football.
Grealish fired seven goals and registered 12 assists during 2020/21. With that in mind, not taking him to Euro 2020 would have been foolish.
The flair player gets teams on the front foot and he could prove to be a real standout during the summer tournament.
England Cricket star Woakes and Grealish have something in common
Both sports stars face a situation where they can relate to each other.
For Grealish he will aim to force his way into Southgate’s starting XI. The England boss has a plethora of attacking talent and the Villa man’s place isn’t guaranteed.
Woakes faces a big few months on the England cricket circuit. He will aim to earn a recall for the test series with India which begins in August.
If the 32-year-old impresses sufficiently he will hope to be selected for the Ashes at the end of the year.
For England cricketers playing against Australia in the Ashes is the pinnacle and with that in mind, Woakes will hope to win a call up.
