Last summer was one of transition for Mikel Arteta at Arsenal, the Spaniard oversaw a ton of progressive business for the club.
Declan Rice, Jurrien Timber and Kai Havertz all arrived for sizable fees, players who should be very successful in North London.

And as you’d expect, Arteta also decided to offload a few players from his project.
Moreover, whilst the permanent departures of Nicolas Pepe and Pablo Mari looked like straight forward decisions for example, there were one or two tougher calls for the Arsenal manager.
It became clear towards the end of last season that Granit Xhaka would be leaving, and to this day his departure still doesn’t sit incredibly well with most Arsenal fans.
However, the departure of Folarin Balogun was perhaps even more polarising.
Balogun, who is now 22-year-old, departed in a £25m deal to Monaco, which some perceived to be below his market value.
Moreover, given how well the Hale End graduate had fared in Ligue 1, a lot of Arsenal fans did want to see Balogun handed a first team role last summer, rather than leaving.
And that being said, those fans may be very interested to see a goal Balogun scored for Monaco today.
Folarin Balogun scores wonder goal for Monaco after leaving Arsenal last summer
Balogun, who has a rather modest five goals in 18 league games for Monaco this season, scored the opener in today’s 3-2 away win at Lens – a venue Arsenal lost at this season.
The goal, which was shared by TNT Sports on X, was a real show of strength and determination on the left wing.

And having not scored in Ligue 1 since the end of last year, it will certainly be a welcome goal for the United States international.
Balogun, who has been accurately described as ‘electric’ in the past, clearly has a lot of talent.
But it would seem incorrect to suggest that Arsenal now made the wrong decision to let him leave last summer.
Balogun achieved a tidy profit for the club, and he simply didn’t have a first team route with both Eddie Nketiah and Gabriel Jesus ahead of him
And when you consider how little Arteta has turned to Nketiah or late, it’s clear that Balogun would have played very few minutes.
All that considered, one Arsenal player proved to Arteta why he should definitely not be sold this summer with his performance against Newcastle.
