Edouard’s comments indicate desire to reach same heights as Suarez and Cavani

Steven Gerrard drew the comparison between Alfredo Morelos and Luis Suarez recently but Odsonne Edouard’s latest comments show that he wants to get to the same level as the Uruguayan and his international team-mate Edinson Cavani, who mentored him at PSG.

As the Scottish title race heats up, both Old Firm sides will have their bids for silverware fired by promising young strikers who are only going to get better.

Recently, Rangers manager Steven Gerrard revealed that his talisman Alfredo Morelos reminded him of his former Liverpool team-mate Suarez, who he says is the best team-mate he ever played with.

Across town, Odsonne Edouard has pushed himself ahead of Leigh Griffiths in the thinking of Brendan Rodgers – who of course oversaw Suarez’s development into a global star at Anfield after joining from Paris Saint Germain this summer.

The hitman has been talking about what he learned from his time with the French champions and in particular, Edinson Cavani, who moved to the club from Napoli for a reported £55m in 2013.

So if Morelos is looking to be Gerrard’s new Suarez, Edouard can be Rodgers’ Cavani if he continues to put into action what the Uruguayan taught him during their time as team-mates.

Rodgers knows what it takes to turn a promising striker into a superstar and if he can have the same impact on Edouard’s career as he did on Suarez, some very exciting times may lay ahead for Celtic.
