Eddie Nketiah sends two-word message to Reiss Nelson after goalscoring antics in Dubai

Arsenal returned home from Dubai last night with the Dubai Super Cup in tow after a 2-1 win over AC Milan.

Capain Martin Odegaard and Reiss Nelson scored to secure Arsenal’s 100% record during the mid-season break in Dubai.

Nelson posted on Instagram after the match as he made the most of his first-team involvement.

The 23-year-old started both games in Dubai, and will be happy with his contribution yesterday.

AC Milan’s goalkeeper gave the ball away to Fabio Vieira, who drove towards the Italian side’s box.

As he drew defenders towards him, he laid the ball off to the unmarked Nelson.

The winger took a touch out of his feet before shooting, and his deflected effort sailed into the net.

Nelson has been a fringe player at Arsenal this season, but scored twice against Nottingham Forest on his first league appearance this campaign.

The absence of first-choice wingers Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli from Arsenal’s Dubai training camp may have helped Nelson.

Nelson will be hoping the goal he scored against AC Milan yesterday may demonstrate he can contribute even more to Arteta’s side.

Nelson scores in Arsenal victory

The 23-year-old posted a picture on Instagram after the match of him celebrating his goal with his teammates.

Forward Eddie Nketiah loved his performance, and simply replied: ‘Ma boy’.

Nketiah is a player who is now set to play a huge role in the second half of Arsenal’s season.

The injury to Gabriel Jesus at the World Cup has meant he’ll now be first-choice when competitive action restarts.

He’s certainly got the backing of his teammates, with Oleksandr Zinchenko shocked at how good he is already.

There’s also a chance that Martinelli could replace Jesus as Arsenal’s centre-forward.

This may open up a space on the wing, and Nelson will hope to fill that role.

After he scored again for Arsenal yesterday, Nelson returns to London Colney at the forefront of his manager’s thoughts.
