Arsenal have wrapped up the signing of Eberechi Eze after pulling off an incredible hijack over rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

Arsenal have started the new Premier League season with two wins from two games as Mikel Arteta aims for the Premier League title.

Riccardo Calafiori thinks Arsenal have found the secret to winning trophies this season, having added proven quality over the summer.

Martin Zubimendi completed his long-awaited move to Arsenal before Viktor Gyokeres arrived at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal have also snapped up Kepa Arrizabalaga, Cristhian Mosquera, Christian Norgaard and Noni Madueke, but arguably the most exciting addition has only just arrived.

Eberechi Eze on Arsenal transfer

Tottenham Hotspur were closing in on signing Eze, having seemingly thrashed out a deal with Crystal Palace.

However, Arsenal hijacked Tottenham’s deal for Eze and left their North London rivals crestfallen.

A boyhood Arsenal fan and former Gunners youth prospect, Eze made it clear that a move to the Emirates Stadium was his top priority.

Eze was presented as a new Arsenal player on Saturday as the Gunners beat Leeds United 5-0 at home.

Speaking on Arsenal’s official website, Eze opened up on his emotional return to Arsenal and how he has felt at the Emirates Stadium in recent years.

Eze admitted that he would tell himself that every game against Arsenal was an opportunity to catch their eye and return to the club.

Eze would look at his old seat at the Emirates Stadium and dream of coming back to Arsenal, believing in himself to make a stunning return.

Sure enough, Eze is now back at Arsenal – and admitted that he now has ‘more energy inside the tank’ having completed his move.

“I thought about coming back from the moment I understood other clubs and what it meant to become a pro,” said Eze.

“I’ve always thought: ‘Arsenal is where it’s at, that’s what I want to achieve, what I want to get to. I’ve been on trial for four years, if I’m being honest. Every time I came to Arsenal, I looked at the seat that I used to sit on when I used to come to games with my brothers, and I’ve said every single time: ‘this is it – it’s time, this is an opportunity.’ I’m not going to say I knew it was going to happen, but that’s the feeling.

“As a player, I have a level of belief in myself. I’ve been playing how I’ve been playing, I’ve been developing this and that, and I had the heart that if it’s meant to be, it will happen, and I believe it will. But if it doesn’t, I’m at peace because I know I’m giving everything. So for it to happen now and to be in this position, there is a bit more energy inside the tank,” he added.

Eberechi Eze could be thrown straight in against Liverpool

Eze is still on cloud nine after joining Arsenal, but he may need to get his game face on very quickly.

Arsenal travel to take on Liverpool in the Premier League on Sunday, as the two title rivals lock horns at Anfield.

Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka both picked up injuries against Leeds United and are expected to miss out.

Gary Neville is predicting a start for Mikel Merino in midfield, and Eze may still find himself starting on the left flank.

Noni Madueke started on the left against Leeds, but may need to play on the right flank to cover for Saka.

That could open up space for Eze to start and make his Arsenal debut in one of the biggest games of the season for Mikel Arteta’s side.
