Arsenal captain Alexandre Lacazette has become a real leader now and Emile Smith Rowe got to experience that in training yesterday.
The Gunners head to Birmingham to take on Aston Villa today and the players were hard at work at London Colney ahead of the game.
Smith Rowe, branded as ‘exceptional’ by Mikel Arteta, has had his problems with injuries and illnesses in recent weeks, but he’s fully fit now. He came off the bench against Liverpool mid-week and there’s a chance he could start at Villa later today.
Lacazette made sure the Englishman worked extra hard in training yesterday.
Lacazette makes Smith Rowe do push-ups in Arsenal training
Arsenal have had very little time to prepare for the game against Aston Villa today.
The Gunners played an intense game against Liverpool on Wednesday night and they’ll now be the first ones to play today. That has irked Mikel Arteta, but the players have no choice but to get on with it.
In one of the sessions yesterday, Lacazette was pictured making young Smith Rowe do push-ups on the training pitch.
Arsenal tweeted out the picture and captioned the Frenchman saying: “Drop and give me 50!”

Despite the defeat to Liverpool mid-week, Arsenal should be proud as they really have turned their season around.
After languishing at the bottom of the Premier League table after the first three games of the season, the Gunners have climbed up to fourth and are the favourites to finish there thanks to their games in hand over Manchester United, Tottenham and West Ham.
One of the biggest reasons why Arsenal have been so good recently is Lacazette. Yes, the youngsters get the plaudits all the time, but the way the Frenchman has led the team during a difficult period deserves immense praise.
The game at Villa Park will not be an easy one today, but Arteta and Arsenal have to find a way to pick up all three points.
