Double Celtic transfer blow as Athletic report two deals are now 'stalling'
Celtic are reportedly closing in on one signing this week, but deals to sign Carl Starfelt and Dusko Vuskovic are ‘stalling’. That is according to The Athletic, who claim deals to sign the duo for a combined £8.5million are not going as planned. Celtic are expected to announce Liel Abada this week.
Ange Postecoglou needs to bring in numerous players this summer. Already, five first-teamers and two outcasts have gone. Scott Brown has left on a free, while loanees Diego Laxalt, Shane Duffy, Mo Elyounoussi and Jonjoe Kenny have exited. Jack Hendry and Vakoun Bayo have been sold.
A recent report claims Abada could be signed and announced on Wednesday, for £3.4million. But hopes that Starfelt (£4million, Times) and Vuskovic (£4.5million, Sun) would follow, look unlikely. The Athletic say talks to sign both defenders have ‘stalled’ ahead of Celtic’s opener.

Starfelt and Vuskovic talks add to Celtic frustration
Celtic desperately need additions this summer. A goalkeeper, a right-back or two, at least two centre-backs, a left-back, a replacement for Scott Brown, two wingers and probably another striker. If Celtic lose Kris Ajer, Odsonne Edouard and Ryan Christie, then they will need to be replaced, too.
But they have missed out on Mat Ryan, who joined Real Sociedad. They are yet to make a first-team signing and while Abeda will be a senior addition, he is still only 19. Stuttering talks to get Vuskovic and Starfelt, with a centre-back a crucial area that requires strengthening, is a huge double blow.
