'Done': Fabrizio Romano says 'here we go' as Liverpool player's exit is now '100% agreed'
Fabrizio Romano has said his famous ‘here we go’ on Sadio Mane’s transfer from Liverpool to Bayern Munich.
Since the Champions League final defeat, Mane has been moving ever closer to joining the German champions.
Liverpool have first moved to replace him with Darwin Nunez, who can take up the role at the centre of their attack which Mane switched to mid-season.
The Senegal international clearly wants to have a new challenge and with one more year left on his contract, this was one of Liverpool’s final chances to cash in.
Romano says ‘here we go’ on Mane to Bayern
It had already been reported – by Romano himself – that Mane had agreed personal terms with Bayern.
That means that it was only an agreement on the fee which needed to be found and it seems that has happened now.
As Romano says, the two clubs met directly today (Friday) to thrash out a deal which sees Liverpool get the fee they want for someone who has been so key to their progress under Jurgen Klopp.
Jamie Carragher said last month that Mane was his favourite Liverpool player, and that he would be disappointed if he left.
He has had some time to get used to the idea, and of course the arrival of Nunez will soften the blow but it is still a big change for Liverpool.
Mane has played all across the frontline with aplomb, fight and skill but Liverpool are evolving towards a new frontline under Klopp.
It is funny that for all the talk of Mo Salah’s contract through the season, Mane is the one who has ended up leaving.
