New Arsenal defender Oleksandr Zinchenko has praised teammate Gabriel Jesus, and believes the forward is ‘world class’

Speaking to The Evening Standard, Zinchenko spoke highly of the £45m forward, and the faith he had that his teammate was going to succeed: “I never had any doubts about him, because he’s a world class player in terms of his numbers.

“You can see it as well in how he works along with his attitude every day in training. He’s an example.

“He’s an incredible player, always hungry for goals. He doesn’t stop at all and I’m so happy for him.”

It’s early days for Jesus, but his Arsenal career couldn’t have started better so far.

He was involved in all four goals in Arsenal’s 4-2 win against Leicester City on Saturday, including a lovely, curling chip for the Gunners opening game.

Arsenal defender Zinchenko believes Jesus is world class

Zinchenko isn’t the only person at Arsenal who’s been impressed by Jesus’ attitude since joining the club, with manager Mikel Arteta also highlighting his influence since arriving.

Jesus has been one of the outstanding players at the start of the Premier League season, and Zinchenko will know better than anyone the levels he’s capable of given their time together at Man City.

The Brazilian forward will be hoping to do enough at Arsenal in the next few months to confirm his place in the Brazil squad for the World Cup, although Arsenal fans might not be too disappointed if he was to miss out.

Arsenal are already expected to have an intense season, being in four competitions including the Europa League.

It’s not known which competitions Arteta may focus the most on, but if Jesus is involved it’s going to be a sign that it’s a priority for the Gunners.

Jesus will be hoping to stay at the level he’s started at, and continue to live up to the ‘world class’ tag that Zinchenko has placed on him.
