‘Disappointed me so much’: Pundit says ‘strong’ Chelsea player has really let him down

So many of Chelsea’s signings over the past 18 months have been disappointing.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Kalidou Koulibaly and Wesley Fofana have all proven to be utter disasters, while the likes of Mykhaylo Mudryk, Noni Madueke and Marc Cucurella have been disappointing in their own ways.

Speaking on the Premier League All Access Podcast, Scott Minto has been discussing some of the disappointing figures at Chelsea as of late, and he says that the one player who he feels has really let him down is Moises Caicedo, claiming that the Ecuadorian midfielder isn’t doing his job properly at the moment.

Caicedo has disappointed

Minto shared his verdict on the ‘strong’ midfielder.

“You look at Caicedo and he’s the one that has disappointed me so much, he’s not doing the job he should be doing. Caicedo should be doing his job a lot better and that goal against Middlesborough is the perfect example of it,” Minto said.

Letdown

There’s no getting around it, Moises Caicedo has been a huge disappointment for Chelsea.

A £115m fee would have you believe that Caicedo would’ve been a truly transformative signing for the Blues, but, if anything, he’s only made their midfield worse.

He looks a shell of the player he was at Brighton, he’s lacking energy, composure and drive at the moment, and perhaps that says more about Chelsea than it does about Caicedo right now.

There’s a real trend emerging here where promising players seem to lose so much of what makes them great the second they arrive at Stamford Bridge.

Maybe it’s a bad environment, maybe it’s the long-term contracts or maybe it’s the coaching, whatever it is, something has to change soon at Chelsea because they’re staring another mid-table finish in the face after a poor start to this season.

Somehow, Mauricio Pochettino needs to find a way to get Caicedo playing his best football again.
