Alan Pardew has given his verdict on whether or not Ivan Toney would be a good signing for Arsenal in the January transfer window.
The former Newcastle United manager believes that Toney would make Arsenal better.
So, what has Alan Pardew said about Arsenal and Ivan Toney? Let’s take a look.
Ivan Toney tipped to make Arsenal better
Well, Alan Pardew has been reflecting on Arsenal’s defeat to Liverpool in the FA Cup this past weekend.
The former Newcastle United manager and talkSPORT pundit has suggested that Mikel Arteta’s side need to sign a striker in the January transfer window.
Although Arsenal created chances in the third round of the FA Cup tie at the Emirates Stadium in North London, they failed to take them and lost 2-0.
When an Arsenal fan ran up on talkSPORT and said that Ivan Toney would not make a massive difference to the team, Pardew disagreed.

While discussing Arsenal’s defeat to Liverpool and the perceived need for a new striker, the Gunners fan said on talkSPORT (6:56 pm, January 7, 2024): “Even if we bring Ivan Toney in this Arsenal team, everyone says we need a striker, I don’t think a striker would make a major difference.”
Pardew responded: “I would slightly disagree. I actually think he would make a difference to you, Toney. Definitely. Because he would give you a presence and everything.”
The Athletic has reported that Arsenal want to sign Toney, but Brentford manager Thomas Frank has publicly said that he wants the striker to stay.
My View: Arsenal unlikely to be able to sign Ivan Toney in January
In my opinion, Arsenal may not be able to sign Ivan Toney from Brentford in the January transfer window.
Toney has not played at all this season because of a ban. The 27-year-old striker is just about to return.
The striker has also spoken about Brentford standing by him during this tough period in his time. I do not think that Toney will push to leave the Bees in the January transfer window.
I think that if Arsenal are to sign Toney, then they have to wait until the summer of 2024 to do business with Brentford.
Toney has made 68 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career. The striker has scored 32 goals and given nine assists in those games.
