Brentford manager Thomas Frank has given his verdict on whether or not Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal could be able to sign Ivan Toney.

Frank has noted the importance of Toney in his Brentford team.

So, what has Thomas Frank said about Arsenal target Ivan Toney? Let’s take a look.

Thomas Frank wants Arsenal target Ivan Toney to stay at Brentford

Well, Brentford striker Ivan Toney has been linked with a move to Arsenal in the January transfer window.

The Athletic has reported that Arsenal want to sign Toney from London and Premier League rivals Brentford in the January transfer window. Football Transfers and TuttoJuve have also claimed interest from the Gunners in the striker.

Chelsea have also been linked with the 27-year-old England international striker, who is due to return to action later this month after the end of a ban that has seen him not play at all this season.

There is speculation that Brentford value Toney at £80 million, but manager Thomas Frank has said that he does not want to sell the striker this month.

When asked if Toney would be a Brentford player come February, Frank said, as quoted in The Athletic: “The very short answer, yes. He is a Brentford player, he is here.

“Clearly we miss a few offensive players, I can’t see why we would sell him and I would love to have him for a longer time.

“If I ever, ever could recommend that, and it’s not for me to say yes or no, that’s Phil (Giles, director of football) or Matthew (Benham, owner), then it needs to be an unbelievable price. So he will stay here.”

My View: Ivan Toney’s wish will be key

In my view, a potential transfer will ultimately be decided by what Ivan Toney wants to do. If the striker is keen on a move to Arsenal and absolutely wants to join them, then a deal could happen.

After all, Brentford would not want to keep a player against his wishes. And if Toney made it clear to all parties concerned that he wanted to join Arsenal, then it would help the Gunners in negotiations with Brentford.
