The heir to Mo Salah’s throne

Mo Salah is arguably Liverpool’s best player but the Egyptian will not be around forever, even if he signs a new contract. A succession plan needs to be put in place and Gordon may just be the man to replace the 29-year-old one day.

FourFourTwo named Gordon as the 28th most exciting young player in world football. The outlet compared him to Salah and even tipped him to take over from the Egyptian in the coming years.

The outlet wrote: “Liverpool’s future looks incredible, with a slew of young stars who look destined for the first team. Kaide Gordon might replace the talisman (Salah) in the current Reds line-up long-term.

“Stylistically, Gordon is the obvious back-up to Mohamed Salah at Anfield – and given how the Egyptian King had his own setbacks, it’s exciting to think about where this 17-year-old could go just from learning from one of the best players in the world ahead of him in the pecking order.”
