Tottenham Hotspur Stadium has been described as “magnificent” by Dinamo Zagreb head coach Zoran Mamic ahead of their Europa League meeting with Spurs tonight.

The 49-year-old brings his side to North London for the last-16 first leg hoping to extend their eight-match winning streak.

Mamic was a teammate of Tottenham legend Luka Modric, and came to watch his friend at the old White Hart Lane shortly after his move to Spurs.

Now, the Dinamo boss will be hoping to mastermind Tottenham’s downfall, with a place in the quarter-finals up for grabs following this tie.

“I spoke (to) Luka,” Mamic told PA, as quoted by BT Sport. “I came with him to Tottenham, the old stadium at White Hart Lane.

“When we came here today, when we saw this stadium we commented the huge difference, what a magnificent new stadium.

“Luka used to be and still is one of the best players in the world and he came from our club in Croatia and we see this as being important.

“A lot of players in Dinamo want to follow in his footsteps but they have to work hard and they can achieve what Luka has achieved.”

Mamic is just the latest footballing figure to visit the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and comment on how impressive the ground is.

RB Leipzig manager Julian Nagelsmann previously described Spurs’ new home as a “great stadium” and – bearing in mind this was in February last year – was wowed by how noisy it was.
