Dimitar Berbatov names who he thinks the better striker was between Didier Drogba and Wayne Rooney

Dimitar Berbatov has been ranking and rating some of the best strikers in world football history.

Speaking to Goal, Berbatov was asked to rate and compare some of the greatest centre-forwards the game has ever seen, and he made some interesting claims in the process.

Of course, Dimitar Berbatov knows a thing or two about what makes a world-class striker. After all, he’s a former Premier League Golden Boot winner who has scored heaps of goals in his career.

Indeed, Berbatov was a top-class player.

Berbatov is perhaps best known for his exploits at Manchester United, but when taking part in this challenge, he picked a Chelsea legend ahead of one of his United teammates.

Dimitar Berbatov picks Didier Drogba over Wayne Rooney

Berbatov was ranking and rating some iconic strikers when he was asked to pick between Didier Drogba and Wayne Rooney.

Drogba and Rooney had something of a rivalry in the 2000s as both men were constantly gunning for the Premier League title and the Golden Boot.

Of course, Berbatov knows Rooney very well from their time together at United, but even he picked Drogba over Rooney.

That wasn’t the only controversial call Berbatov made either as he made a number of other interesting picks.

Didier Drogba compared to Wayne Rooney

Berbatov picked Drogba over Rooney, and this is a very interesting debate.

On one hand, Rooney did score more goals that Drogba in the Premier League, but, on the other hand, Drogba was the man for the big moments, and, in terms of individual seasons, the Ivorian perhaps hit higher heights than Rooney ever did.

Rooney never won a Golden Boot while Drogba has two, while both men have a similar tally in terms of silverware.

Ultimately, it comes down to personal preference when picking between these two, but the fact that Berbatov picked Drogba after spending time with Rooney at United shows just how highly-regarded Drogba is by his peers.

Yaya Toure even recently said that Drogba is better than Mohamed Salah.
