Derby fans react as Celtic reportedly eye defender
Celtic have reportedly identified Derby County defender Lee Buchanan as a possible signing this summer. The left-back has caught the eye under the guidance of Wayne Rooney, clocking up 37 appearances last season. Derby fans have reacted to interest from Celtic, seemingly open to his sale.
Celtic need a left-back. With Diego Laxalt’s choosing not to stay, the Uruguay international has since gone to Russian side Dynamo Moscow. It leaves Celtic with Greg Taylor and Boli Bolingoli as options – but they are hardly the long-term answers.
Taylor has been somewhat indifferent at Celtic since his move from Kilmarnock. Meanwhile, Bolingoli was sent out on loan last season having broken lockdown rules to travel to Spain. The left-back was expected to never play for the Hoops again – but could now be in with a shout.
What have Derby fans said about Celtic wanting Buchanan?
But the interest in England Under-21 star Buchanan is proof that Ange Postecoglou is looking to sign a left-back. The Hoops have money to spend having sold Kris Ajer to Brentford for an initial £13million. The Record claims Celtic have added Buchanan to their list of transfer targets.
Derby fans have reacted on Twitter to reports that Celtic want to sign defender Buchanan. With the Rams in financial crisis, Derby fans are clearly expecting the sale of some of their players and Buchanan is one of those. The majority are happy to see him go if a decent fee is brought in.
