Dennis Cirkin has insisted that he is unaware of rumours linking him with a move back to Tottenham Hotspur, claiming that he is only focused on his form for Sunderland – in comments reported by the Sunderland Echo.
Cirkin has proved to be an excellent signing for the Black Cats. He has already brought up the half-century of appearances for the club. And he opened his goalscoring account at the weekend. He also provided an assist in the 2-1 win over Wigan.

His performances are not going unnoticed. Recent reports from The Sun claimed that Tottenham are interested in re-signing Cirkin.
Cirkin unaware of Tottenham rumours
Spurs sold the 20-year-old to Sunderland in 2021. At the time, it appeared to be something of a surprise to let him go permanently as he continued to make progress in the youth ranks.

And it seems that Tottenham may want to have another look at Cirkin. However, the youngster has insisted that he knows little of the links with a North London return.
“I haven’t heard about any of these rumours, I’ve tried to stay away from it,” he said, as reported by the Sunderland Echo.
“I just try and play for Sunderland and I’m just trying to get back in the team here and that’s my main goal.”
Cirkin’s links with a Premier League move are a reward for his performances for Sunderland. He has shown why he appeared to be moving closer to the periphery of the first-team fold before his Tottenham exit. His potential has been described as ‘frightening‘.
He may have mixed feelings about the prospect of returning to Spurs. Obviously, it is a hugely exciting time to be at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with Antonio Conte at the helm.
But Cirkin is playing regularly. And it is unlikely that he will enjoy a similar role back at Tottenham, whether that be at centre-back or left-back.
He may give the rumours more attention if a bid is made in one of the coming windows. But for now, Cirkin is looking to just continue impressing with Sunderland.
