Tottenham Hotspur are interested in re-signing Dennis Cirkin from Sunderland just over a year after selling the defender to the Black Cats, according to a surprise report from The Sun.
The 20-year-old was sold by Spurs before he got the chance to make his first-team debut. But he was a regular fixture for the under-18s and under-23s.

However, just as it seemed that he was starting to edge closer to that senior chance, Cirkin was sold to Sunderland. He has since gone on to make 49 appearances for the Championship side in all competitions.
Tottenham interested in Cirkin
Cirkin did not make it off the bench at the weekend as Tony Mowbray’s men lost to Swansea City. Nevertheless, it seems that he is attracting Premier League attention ahead of the January transfer window.

In fact, the team hoping to secure his signature is Tottenham, according to The Sun.
Spurs are planning to watch the England under-20 international ahead of the winter window. The Sun does suggest that Tottenham may look to bring him back to then sell him elsewhere.
It is not a huge surprise that Tottenham have maintained an interest in Cirkin. He is a very talented prospect. And it may have taken some aback to have seen him sold.
Spurs are a well run club. So you would imagine that part of the deal would include clauses centred around how Tottenham would benefit when he comes to be sold.
Former Sunderland boss Lee Johnson claimed that his potential is ‘frightening‘. And he has now shown that he can play as both a centre-back and left-back.
Much may depend on how much Sunderland want for Cirkin. But it may be a shrewd move to try and bring him back to North London.
