Dejan Kulusevski and Sergio Reguilon loved seeing what 27-year-old did for Tottenham yesterday
Danish midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg opened the scoring for Spurs with a neat finish inside the box.
Hojbjerg combined well with Harry Kane for Tottenham’s first, before the Englishman doubled their lead.
Aleksandar Mitrovic made sure it was a nervy finish at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with an exquisite goal.
But Spurs held on, and in reality, should have been out of sight at that point.
The midfielder isn’t a regular goal scorer, and his Tottenham teammates loved Hojbjerg’s unlikely goal.
The Dane posted on his Instagram with the caption: ‘Red beard, and job done’
Sergio Reguilon, who is now on loan at Atletico Madrid said: “Scorer”.
While Swede Dejan Kulusevski replied in his native tongue with: “Machine”.
Tottenham teammates loved Hojbjerg goal
Hojbjerg has already matched his tally of goals from last season, after opening his account for the season with a great strike against Chelsea.
The 27-year-old is a vital cog in Antonio Conte’s midfield alongside Rodrigo Bentancur.
The pair control the middle of the park brilliantly, allowing Tottenham’s attackers and wing-backs to bomb forward.
However, when Spurs need a goal, Hojbjerg can pop up in unexpected attacking areas.
His composure certainly helps when he’s in unfamiliar forward positions, with one pundit mistaking him for Kane.
The Dane should potentially get in shooting positions more often, having put all of his shots but one on target this season.
Hojbjerg is clearly a popular member of the squad, and it’s no surprise his Tottenham teammates loved seeing him score his goal.
