'He's just so silky': Declan Rice raves about 'proper' Liverpool player, says he's among the best he's ever seen

Declan Rice has been speaking about his toughest opponents and has claimed Liverpool star Thiago is right up there among the very best he’s faced.

The West Ham midfielder was back on the Tubes and Ange Golf Life YouTube channel and speaking about the best players he’s ever faced in the middle of the park. Of course, Rice has played for England and West Ham at the highest level, and he acknowledged there are so many to choose from.

However, he took time out to mention Liverpool star Thiago, and praised the Spanish star for being so good.

“There’s so many. I played against Thiago for Liverpool last season. He’s just so silky. He just plays the game at his own pace. He was proper,” Rice said of Thiago.

In the clip, Rice also speaks of how impressed he was with Tottenham midfielder Tanguy Ndombele. The Frenchman has had plenty of stick during his time with Spurs, but Rice was left impressed with him when he faced him against Lyon.

Of course, praise for Thiago is nothing new. In fact, it was only this weekend that Tony Cascarino spoke of how he believed Thiago to be one of the best the Premier League has ever seen. Rice’s opinion here, then, seems to back that thought process up.

TBR’s View: Thiago Can Run Games For Liverpool

Thiago is simply a brilliant footballer and the fact we have reported twice on him this week shows just how highly-regarded he is in the game.

For Liverpool, the Spaniard is key and there is no doubt that if he can stay fit this season, the Reds will challenge for the big honours.

Thiago has been unlucky with injuries at times but when fully fit and on form, there aren’t many better in the entire game.
