Kai Havertz was one of Arsenal’s stars in their win against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The Gunners kicked off the new Premier League season with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Gary O’Neil’s side at the Emirates on Saturday.
Mikel Arteta named a very strong lineup, and the North Londoners were all over Wolves, especially in the first half of the game.
Havertz started up top again, and he was absolutely magnificent.
Declan Rice’s three-word message to Kai Havertz after Arsenal vs Wolves
Almost everyone who watches Arsenal urged Arteta to sign a new striker this summer.
Manchester City have Erling Haaland who guarantees 25 goals a season, while Mohamed Salah does that for Liverpool at Anfield. Arsenal have nobody to generate numbers like those two do.
Havertz produced some great performances in the second half of the 2023/24 season as a striker, but people were sceptical over whether he is good enough to lead the line.
Alan Shearer even said that Arsenal have to sign a new striker if they want to win the Premier League, and many people agreed with that assessment.
However, on the opening day of the new Premier League season, Havertz produced a fantastic display and silenced all of his critics.
The German stretched Wolves’ defence, combined really well with his teammates and scored the opener in the first half through a brilliant header.
Then, in the second half, he assisted Saka’s Messi-esque goal to give Arsenal a 2-0 win.
Havertz took to Instagram to celebrate his performance and the victory. Under the post, Declan Rice commented: “My brother mannn,” followed by a heart emoji.

Kai Havertz’s stats as a striker will blow you away
Havertz came under a lot of criticism when Arsenal signed him in the summer of 2023.
The German had a slow start to life at the Emirates, and many people prematurely called him a flop and slammed Arteta for bringing him in.
However, since Havertz was moved to a number nine role, he has been a revelation. In 13 starts in the Premier League as a striker, he has scored nine goals and provided seven assists, which is stunning.
Since the turn of 2024, the former Chelsea man has averaged a goal or an assist in the Premier League every 91.5 minutes.
If you’re wondering if that’s good, only Cole Palmer, Alexander Isak, Saka and Haaland have managed more among players to have played at least 1000 minutes in that period.
Whether you like him or not, you must admit now that Havertz is up there with the best players in the Premier League.
