David Ornstein shares the three signings Man United want to make after Bryan Mbeumo

Despite finishing 15th in the English top flight last season, Ruben Amorim has already welcomed two of the Premier League’s brightest attackers to Manchester United.

Bryan Mbeumo has now joined Matheus Cunha at Old Trafford, and Amorim now has two number tens who perfectly suit his 3-4-3 system.

Man United had been trying to finalise a deal for Mbeumo for several weeks, but Brentford refused to budge on their valuation.

Eventually, United caved to their demands in order to sign the Cameroon international, and Leny Yoro is excited to play with Mbeumo next season — who wouldn’t be?

But United’s business is unlikely to stop there, and according to journalist David Ornstein, Amorim could still welcome at least three more signings to the club.

Ruben Amorim wants to sign a striker to play with Bryan Mbeumo

Speaking on ‘The Athletic FC Podcast’, Ornstein confirmed that United want to sign a striker to play ahead of Mbeumo and Cunha — an exciting prospect.

And in addition to a number nine, Amorim might also benefit from significant additions in two other key areas.

Ornstein said: “In no particular order, the goalkeeping department needs to be addressed.

“But that doesn’t necessarily mean Andre Onana is going to leave, he’s got an injury at the moment — there may not be suitors for him, there may be, let’s see how that develops.

“We’ve seen a lot of speculation around Emi Martinez and we don’t know of movement on that and there will be more goalkeepers in the frame as well.

“A number six, I think, is on the agenda as well, a defensive midfielder and then, of course, the number nine — they want to sign a striker.

“Now, we don’t know of them actively sort of moving on Sesko, Watkins — reports on both in the last 24 hours before recording this.

“No doubt that they are on the list of Manchester United, they are on the list of pretty much every top club.”

Ollie Watkins could be the perfect striker for Manchester United

Amid all the talk of United signing Viktor Gyokeres or even Benjamin Sesko as mentioned, Ollie Watkins’ name is now rarely mentioned among fans.

Despite several excellent seasons at Aston Villa, Watkins almost seems to be a slightly unpopular choice among fans — at least that seemed to be the case among Arsenal supporters, who were faced with a similar striker search.

However, Watkins obviously has the Premier League goalscoring record to guarantee a certain level of success if he does make a move this summer.

And owing to how Amorim’s system works, Watkins could be a brilliant runner in behind, in similar fashion to what Gyokeres did for the Portuguese manager at Sporting CP.

Of course, there’s so much more to Watkins’ game than just his intelligent running — he’s also a brilliant finisher as his record suggests.

And although he’s not as young as Sesko or even Gyokeres, Watkins could be the smartest striker pickup this summer, a number nine who will make an immediate difference.
