Arsenal star Kai Havertz has come under immense criticism over the last two months, and David Ornstein has now shared how the Gunners are feeling about him.

The German has had a difficult start to life in North London. He just hasn’t been able to produce a good performance from the start, and that is now beginning to worry even the most optimistic Arsenal fans.

Kai Havertz has Arsenal’s full support despite poor start

Arsenal signed Kai Havertz from Chelsea for an eye-watering £65 million in the summer (Sky Sports).

It was a shock to everyone when rumours first emerged that Mikel Arteta was interested in signing him, but the Gunners boss was adamant that he wanted him.

Havertz came in and unfortunately for Arsenal fans, he hasn’t been able to produce the goods like fellow big-money summer signing Declan Rice has in the Gunners’ midfield.

In David Ornstein’s Q&A on The Athletic this week, the journalist was asked if Arsenal are going to ‘rectify’ their Havertz mistake in the January transfer window.

Much to the disappointment of the fan who asked the question, Ornstein said ‘no’ and further revealed Arsenal’s stance on the German international.

Ornstein said: “No. Havertz needs time and has Arsenal’s full support.”

Good news for Havertz

Kai Havertz is under enormous pressure at Arsenal, but the fact that the whole club is still behind him is surely music to his ears.

The German is a talented player, nobody can deny that. He’s tall, good in the air, intelligent with his runs, and can link up well with his teammates.

However, he has just not been able to deliver for Arsenal so far, and that is proving to be extremely frustrating for fans and pundits who watch him week in, week out. Chris Sutton went as far as saying Havertz looks ‘broken‘.

Mikel Arteta will continue to stick with Havertz, but if nothing changes in the next few months, Arsenal will just have to cut their losses.
