David Moyes’ return to West Ham United has been a very successful one after taking over from Manuel Pellegrini.
After steering the Hammers away from relegation in 2020, West Ham have qualified for Europe in back-to-back seasons.
However, West Ham have struggled this season, and currently find themselves in the relegation zone.
They lost what already looks like a potential relegation six-pointer against Everton before the international break.

Moyes has been reluctant to give some of his new signing’s opportunities so far this season.
Thilo Kehrer is the only new recruit to establish himself in the first team, and Moyes has been pleased with how he’s hit the ground running.
Gianluca Scamacca has played well in the Europa Conference League, but has yet to make an impact in the Premier League.
One player who West Ham haven’t seen much of yet is Flynn Downes, and Moyes has to start him against Wolves.
Moyes has to start Downes against Wolves
Signed for £12m from Swansea City, Downes was brought in to give West Ham another option in midfield.
Previously described as an ‘incredible’ player, he’s found it tough to break into the Hammers’ Premier League side.
He’s only played 90 minutes once this season, featuring against FCSB before the international break.

The Evening Standard gave him a six out of 10, saying he ‘kept things simple’ in midfield.
They also said that he gave Declan Rice ‘license to drive forward’ which may be a key reason why Moyes has to start Downes.
Getting the best out of Rice, who is arguably West Ham’s best player, is vital to their success.
Downes could unlock Rice’s best form
Tomas Soucek hasn’t been in brilliant form this season, and there were reports he might move on in the summer.
Having a player like Downes next to Rice doing the simple things and moving the ball faster across the pitch would really help West Ham.
His range of passing means he can switch play quickly, and find more creative teammates in more space in dangerous areas.
Allowing Rice to have more freedom is something West Ham fans will be craving, as he carries the ball so well.

There were previously suggestions that Downes won’t have been happy about his game time so far.
Moyes has previously said that the Conference League was a chance for Downes to ‘learn’ the game.
This suggestion that he might not be fully up to speed with West Ham’s tactics may explain his absence.
However, the international break would have given him more time to implement any advice from Moyes.
West Ham need to switch something up to turn around their poor form, and Moyes handing Downes a start against Wolves could be the solution.
