Report: Darwin Nunez had made his mind up on Liverpool move...but could now join Manchester United
The battle to sign Benfica striker Darwin Nunez appears to be raging on, with Liverpool and Manchester United keen to bring the forward to England.
Nunez is one of the hottest properties on the continent at the moment after a stunning season with Benfica. His form has alerted the very biggest and best clubs, with United and Liverpool both among the key admirers. It’s believed Nunez is keen to move to England.
Reports have suggested that Jurgen Klopp is prepared to spend a huge sum on Nunez. However, while the Reds are super keen, it seems Nunez is still holding out on making his final decision. According to The Independent, Nunez has – until now – favoured a move to Anfield over any other. But The Independent now reports that Nunez is willing to listen to what Erik ten Hag and Manchester United have got to say.
With that, it means the Uruguayan star is clearly open to a move to Old Trafford as well. Of course, Champions League football is not on offer this season with United. However, Ten Hag is looking to build his own dynasty, and could convince Nunez that he is the man to lead the charge.
TBR’s View: Nunez Faces Tough Choice With Manchester United And Liverpool
There are pros and cons for Darwin Nunez with both of these clubs. At United, he will have Cristiano Ronaldo ahead of him and we all know the problems that could cause.
At Liverpool, he could slot in nicely as a Sadio Mane replacement. But even at Anfield, the likes of Jota and Firmino remain on the books, meaning Nunez has a fight on his hands there as well.
Of course, he is a class act and whoever he joins he’s likely to automatically become first choice due to his ability.
