Report: Liverpool ready to spend £85m on 'world-class' Mane replacement; Klopp loves his characteristics
Liverpool are ready to ramp up their search for a Sadio Mane replacement and reports from Portugal claim that Darwin Nunez is Jurgen Klopp’s ideal signing.
Correio da Manha reports how Liverpool could be willing to spend big on landing Nunez, with the report suggesting the Reds will do ‘everything they can’ to sign a player who Klopp believes has the ‘ideal characteristics’.
Nunez has been a key player in the European game over the last few seasons. His goals for Benfica and in big games in Europe – including against Liverpool – have seen the Uruguayan become one of the most in-demand players on the continent at the moment.
Correio da Manha’s report has suggested that Benfica will demand around £85m for Nunez should they decide to sell.
Nunez, who has been branded as a ‘world class‘ talent, has been linked with a number of other clubs. The likes of Manchester United, Newcastle and more have all lodged an interest in him. However, the report from Manha today would suggest it is Liverpool who are prepared to go all in on Nunez.
We’ve seen before with Liverpool that if they like a player, they’ll pay. And with money expected from the sale of Sadio Mane and his saved wages, the actual outlay for Nunez won’t be too hard to swallow.
TBR’s View: Liverpool Can Win The Title With Darwin Nunez On Board
Make no mistake, whoever signs Darwin Nunez this summer is getting one of the best strikers in Europe on their books. The Uruguayan is simply outstanding and at 22, he can only get better.
Liverpool will be determined that Mane’s departure doesn’t weaken their squad. But with that, they also know only a select few players can fill the void. Nunez, certainly, is one of them.
If the Reds can pull this off, then the Premier League title is very much theirs for the taking.
