Darren Bent has issued his verdict on the news that Eric Dier is set to leave Tottenham Hotspur and sign for Bayern Munich in the January transfer window.
Tottenham have definitely been one of the busier sides in the early stages of the month. Timo Werner has signed for the club. And Radu Dragusin looks set to follow him through the Spurs entrance.
But they are also moving players on. And the next name who looks set to depart is Eric Dier. In a surprising turn of events, the 29-year-old is about to follow Harry Kane.
Darren Bent wishes Eric Dier well at Bayern Munich
Dier is on the verge of signing for Bayern Munich. It is not a move many would have expected with the England international struggling for minutes under Ange Postecoglou this season.

But the Bavarian giants are seemingly planning to take advantage of the fact that his contract expires in the summer to seal a low-cost move.
Speaking on talkSPORT, Darren Bent has suggested that he does not think that Bayern will have been the only side interested in Dier when it became apparent that he was available.
“I think he’s been a good servant for them, international, and I wish him all the best at Bayern Munich. Great move for him,” he said.
“Once it was made aware that he could be leaving, I think loads of clubs would have been in for him. But the moment Bayern Munich come calling, why would you not?”
Plenty of Tottenham fans will be very interested to see how defender gets on in Bundesliga
Dier does not appear to suit Ange Postecoglou’s style. It was telling that Postecoglou often seemed to prefer using Emerson Royal and Ben Davies at centre-back.
That does not mean that his career at the highest level is over by any means. But it is somewhat surprising that Bayern want to sign the defender.
Dier showed so much promise at Tottenham. But his versatility arguably counted against him. At the stage where he had the opportunity to become one of the best players in the Premier League, he did not quite kick on.
Every Tottenham manager up until Postecoglou has put a lot of faith in Dier. But he has not been able to silence his doubters over the last few years.
So it will be very interesting to see how he now fares at Bayern.
