Tottenham have been the surprise package in the Premier League so far this season, and it’s fair to say that many of their players have shocked us too.
The likes of Yves Bissouma and Pape Sarr look infinitely better than they did last season, while Pedro Porro looks absolutely transformed as well.
Indeed, in the second half of last season, Porro looked like a lost puppy while playing for Tottenham, he really struggled and didn’t look anything close to a £39m footballer.
However, this term, the Spaniard has been utterly brilliant, and speaking on the No Tippy Tappy Football Podcast, Tim Sherwood has given him his due praise.

Sherwood hails Porro
The pundit spoke highly of the full-back.
“Udogie has been brilliant back from loan, Van de Ven has been great and he’s almost calmed Romero down back there. Pedro Porro, dare I say it, he’s playing very well because he’s playing to his strengths, which is getting forward,” Sherwood said.
Transformed
Sherwood is right to single Porro out for praise, because he looks like a player transformed compared to last season.
We really can’t emphasise enough just how much this young man has improved. He’s gone from looking rash, lost and clumsy to looking settled, assured and confident in a matter of months.
The entire mood at Tottenham has changed since the departure of Antonio Conte and the arrival of Ange Postecoglou, and it would appear that Porro has been one of the main benefactors of this change in environment.
Spurs were ridiculed for this signing last season, but, all of a sudden, £39m for a player of this quality looks like an absolute bargain.
It’s all coming together for Tottenham, and Porro is well on his way to becoming one of the best right-backs in the league.
