Danny Murphy has told the Daily Mail that Emi Buendia will thrill Aston Villa supporters with the way he glides past players following the Argentinian’s move to Villa Park this summer.

Buendia was at the centre of the Villans’ first statement of intent in what is proving to be an outstanding summer for the club.

Villa broke their transfer record to bring the 24-year-old in. And it follows a campaign in which Buendia was named the best player in the Championship.

The attacking midfielder scored 15 goals and provided 16 assists to help Norwich win the title.

And Murphy made an exciting prediction regarding the kind of numbers Buendia could achieve during his first year with Villa.

“Buendia makes things happen and Aston Villa fans will be thrilled by the way he flies past defenders with his low centre of gravity,” he told the Daily Mail.

“I watched Buendia in the Premier League with Norwich and was impressed by his natural instinct to always play forward.

“There is no reason the Argentine can’t get double figures for goals and assists and ease the disappointment of losing Jack Grealish.”

Aston Villa have done amazing job of preparing for Grealish move with deals for Buendia, Leon Bailey and Danny Ings

Obviously, Villa would have loved to have kept Jack Grealish. The academy graduate is one of the best players in the Premier League.

However, there looks to be a chance that Dean Smith’s side will actually be in a better position at the end of the summer.

They were arguably too reliant on Grealish in recent years. But with additions such as Buendia, Leon Bailey and Danny Ings, Villa have improved their squad considerably.

And they may not be done there. For example, reports on Sunday claimed they lead the race for Joaquin Correa.

So Villa may have lost their best player. But it does appear that their squad could actually end up a lot stronger.
