Rasmus Hojlund was left furious at one stage on a frustrating night for the Manchester United striker as Denmark played out a goalless draw with Switzerland on Saturday.
Denmark are looking like a team who could go under the radar and perform fairly well at Euro 2024 – as they did three years ago where Kasper Hjulmand’s men pushed England all the way in the semi-final at Wembley.
Of course, the key difference from that side to this one is the presence of an outstanding striker in Rasmus Hojlund.
The 21-year-old made his debut for his country one year after Euro 2020. Hojlund now has seven goals in 11 appearances for his national side.
Rasmus Hojlund has difficult night for Denmark
Unfortunately, Saturday’s friendly with Switzerland proved to be a tough one for the Danes. Both sides managed just two shots on target as they played out a goalless draw.

Danish outlet BT gave Hojlund a 2/6 rating, and it seems that the Manchester United star was not at all happy with his teammates…
“He looks like someone who is about to boil over every time things go wrong. And when he ran off alone under pressure to just be played around, his furious ‘Come on in!’ screams could be heard all the way through the press boxes. And you understood the frustrations during the match, because it never became dangerous for Højlund today, even though he was played in a few promising situations,” they wrote.
Manchester United will be more concerned about striker’s fitness during international break
Of course, Manchester United’s focus will be on getting the youngster back unscathed after the international break. Hojlund had only made his return after a month out for the dramatic FA Cup tie with Liverpool earlier this month.
He has become so important to Erik ten Hag‘s side. There is so much to like about Hojlund’s game. And he had scored eight in his last eight in all competitions. And Manchester United were unbeaten during that scoring run.
Faroe Islands lie ahead on Tuesday for Denmark. Hojlund may feel that it is a good opportunity to get a few more goals ahead of his return to Old Trafford.
Perhaps Manchester United however, would be very happy to see him play a peripheral role in his country’s second game.
