Dan James' Leeds United career may have come to an end - journalist

Football journalist Dean Jones has claimed that Dan JamesLeeds United career may be over now after he left the club on loan on transfer deadline day.

The Welshman joined the Whites from Manchester United for £25 million last year (BBC). He played 40 times for Leeds and was directly involved in nine goals, which is not bad at all considering how poor they were for most parts of last season.

Dan James’ Leeds United career may have come to an end

James joined Fulham on transfer deadline day and will spend the remainder of the season there.

It was a bit of a surprise to see him leave Leeds on the final day of the window, especially on loan to a direct rival. That suggests that Jesse Marsch doesn’t really fancy him, which means his future at Elland Road may well be over.

Jones believes he will not play for Leeds again.

The journalist told GiveMeSport: “I mean, all signs suggest that that’s it for him now.

“I mean, they wouldn’t be letting him out on loan to another Premier League club, which is essentially going to be a kind of rival in terms of league position to season you would imagine, to then bring him back.”

TBR View:

James, branded as ‘electric’, didn’t quite set the stage on fire when he joined Leeds last season. However, the Whites were awful in the first half of the campaign, so you can’t really blame him, can you?

The Welshman is still a quality player. He’s good on the ball, can play in various positions, is absolutely rapid and could do a job for multiple clubs in the Premier League.

The fact that he’s still only 24 means there’s still a lot of time for improvement in the coming years as well.

It will be interesting to see what happens with James. It really does look like Marsch doesn’t want him now, but a good year away at Fulham could well change the American’s mind.
