'A joy to watch': 12-cap international linked with Crystal Palace has a big fan in Steven Gerrard
Crystal Palace are reportedly interested in Rangers star Joe Aribo, according to the Daily Mail.
Eagles boss Patrick Vieira has put together a superb team this season, and Aribo would certainly be a shrews addition next year.
However, Palace will have competition if they are to land the 25-year-old from Ibrox.
As well as the Selhurst Park outfit, the likes of Brentford and Watford are apparently eyeing Aribo too.
The 12-cap Nigeria international has been sensational for the Scottish champions since joining from Charlton in 2019.
Aribo has made 117 appearances for his club, registering 21 goals and 18 assists.
Last season, he helped Rangers win their 55th Scottish Premiership title and thwarted Celtic’s 10-in-a-row bid.
With Aribo’s contract expiring in 18 months’ time, the likes of Palace can’t pass up on the opportunity to try an approach.
In mid-October, then-Gers boss Steven Gerrard – now at Aston Villa – raved about Aribo following an Europa League win over Brondby.
“I never said stand up and be counted, because he always gives you that – he’s a great kid,” Gerrard told BT Sport.
“He wants to learn, he wants to grow.
“What I’ve said to Joe, is you’re a better player when you play angry.
“You’re 6ft 3in, flex your muscles, you’re a big strong lad. Leave it on a few.
“When he does that, he’s a joy to watch. I thought his first 45 minutes was outstanding.
“If he can do that regularly, we’ll be lucky to keep him.”
