Report: Crystal Palace hold talks with 'the brain' who has been impressed by club's plans; Everton also interested

Lucien Favre has held talks with Crystal Palace over their vacant manager role, according to The Guardian.

The publication is claiming that the Swiss figure has been left impressed with the club’s plans. Favre, who was sacked last December, is the preferred choice to replace Roy Hodgson.

Steve Parish’s side have had issues appointing a new manager after a deal for Nuno Espirito Santo broke down.

However, the Eagles aren’t the only Premier League club interested in the coach with Everton also eager.

The Merseysiders have had their own issues appointing a replacement for Carlo Ancelotti, who departed for Real Madrid.

TBR View: Favre has the CV to match Crystal Palace ambition but Everton threat very real

I think we’ve discussed to death how bad the Selhurst Park outfit were in the final third last season,

However, there’s a new piece of news rearing its beautiful head during the club’s search for a new manager.

During talks with the club, Nuno and Favre have both been left impressed by the ambition.

It seems the ambition to improve following a desperately poor campaign is there from the hierarchy,

The former Borussia Dortmund man has the CV to take Palace to the next level.

Despite having failed to meet the Bundesliga outfit’s ambition, his back-to-back second-place finishes are encouraging.

He also helped Ligue 1 outfit Nice to back-to-back qualifications for the Champions League.

Whilst qualifying for Europe’s premier competition is a far-fetched dream, there should be lofty ambitions from Palace.

The acquisitions of Eberechi Eze and Jean-Philippe Mateta means the club have a mean-looking attack. Coupled with the electric Wilfried Zaha and Favre has a great platform on which to work his magic.

However, the threat of Everton is incredibly real. The Merseysiders have shown in the past they aren’t shy when it comes to flexing their financial muscle.

The hierarchy at Crystal Palace have shown ambition during talks with ‘the brain’, Favre. Appointing the 63-year-old would help bring a higher quality of management following Hodgson’s departure.
