TBR View: Latest reports over Nuno Espirito Santo's impression of Crystal Palace shows the Eagles are showing ambition
Reports are claiming that Crystal Palace made an impression on Nuno Espirito Santo.
According to Daily Mail, the Eagles called off their pursuit of the Portuguese coach due to his demands.
The Telegraph claim those demands are to do with backroom staff and the budget for their respective contracts.
It may well leave a bitter taste in the mouths of those associated with the south Londoners. However, there is plenty of reason to be optimistic about the future.
There needs to be a complete overhaul of direction from Palace after Roy Hodgson’s tenure.
Everything seemed to go a bit stale under the Croydon-born figure. From the playing style to off-the-pitch matters, things got out of hand.
As many as 13 first-team players’ contracts were due to end at the end of this month. Christian Benteke has signed a new deal whilst others are in talks to alleviate some fears.
Whilst losing out on a target may well be saddening, it seems the club are headed in the right direction.
The Daily Mail are claiming that Nuno was left hugely impressed by the project discussed. The update seems to suggest that there will be bigger ambition from the hierarchy at Selhurst Park.
And after the last few seasons, that is welcome news.
The signing of Eberechi Eze was a step in the right direction. He’s a young, talented attacker, who can bring some flair to the Palace attack. The England youth international lit up the Premier League in his debut season, contributing 10 goals.
The managerial targets also show that there will be an injection of attacking football. Steve Cooper, Frank Lampard and Nuno have all played an attacking brand of football during their time in football.
Hodgson seemed to favour a more defensive-minded approach, frustrating for many spectators.
The latest reports over Nuno and his impression of Palace show there are signs of a positive future.
